Venio Losert (born July 25, 1976 in Zavidovići , Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian handball player . He is 1.91 m tall and weighs 94 kilograms.
Losert, who plays for the French club Montpellier AHB and plays for the Croatian men's national handball team (shirt number 1), plays as a goalkeeper .
Venio Losert came early to the youth academy of Badel Zagreb , where he finally made his debut in the Croatian first division. With Zagreb in 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999 Croatian champions and cup winners as well as the highlight in 1992 and 1993 winner of the EHF Champions League . In 1999 he was looking for a new challenge and moved to Garbel Saragossa in the Spanish league ASOBAL , only to move to Teka Cantabria a year later . But he was not happy there either and - again after only one year - went to BM Granollers . He stayed here for three full years before moving to Portland San Antonio in 2004 . Here he won the Spanish championship in 2005, but hired in 2006 at Frigorificos del Morrazo Cangas , before he ended up at the top club FC Barcelona in 2006 . There he won the Spanish Supercup and the Copa del Rey de Balonmano in 2006/07 . In the summer of 2009, his contract with FC Barcelona was not renewed. In December 2009, the French first division club US Créteil HB signed him. From 2010 he played for Ademar León . After two years in León, Losert signed a contract with the Danish first division club KIF Kolding . In November 2012 he moved to the Polish club KS Kielce . With Kielce he won the Polish championship and the cup in 2013 and 2014. For the 2014/15 season he moved to Montpellier AHB , where he replaced Thierry Omeyer .
Losert is the record goalkeeper in his country with 221 international matches for the Croatian men's national handball team. At the Olympic Games in 1996 in Atlanta and 2004 in Athens he won with his team the gold medal at the World Handball Championships in 1995 , 2005 and 2009 , respectively silver and in the World Cup in 2003 the gold medal . At the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics , Losert was the Croatian flag bearer . At these games he won the bronze medal.
