Alpina is a brand of Transdev Rhein-Main GmbH, a local transport company that belongs to the Transdev Group and is based in Frankfurt am Main . On May 14, 2009, the former, independent companies Alpina Bad Homburg GmbH and Alpina Rhein-Main Co. & KG became. Merged into what was then Veolia Verkehr Rhein-Main GmbH, today's Transdev Rhein-Main GmbH.

Originally, the locations Bad Vilbel , Offenbach-Westkreis and Frankfurt - Airport were assigned to the Alpina Rhein-Main . Lines of Stadtwerke Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt am Main mbH (VGF) were also assigned as subcontractors to Alpina Rhein-Main. The control center, workshop and administration are located in the industrial area in Frankfurt-Seckbach .

On January 1, 2009, the lines in Bad Homburg and Oberursel were handed over due to a Europe-wide tender. The depot belonging to the city on Nehringstrasse in Bad Homburg had to be abandoned. The entire administration of Alpina Bad Homburg ran through the Flinschstrasse depot in Frankfurt am Main until May 13, 2009.

On February 19, 2010 traffiQ announced that the last bundle of buses in Frankfurt (Bundle E) had been awarded to Transdev Rhein-Main GmbH. The line bundle includes lines 32, 34, 39, 63, 64 and 66. At the turn of the year 2010/2011, Alpina held a good 40% of bus services in Frankfurt.

On May 29, 2010, operations on the Vilbus ended. As part of a Europe-wide tender, BRH viabus (then First Group Rhein-Neckar ) won the Vilbus line bundle.

The term of the OF-West bundle ended on December 14, 2013, and BRH viabus was able to acquire the bundle of lines for itself.

Since 2015 Alpina has been active again in Bad Homburg, Oberursel and Friedrichsdorf as well as in Offenbach West and in the Taunus.
