The Verbandsgemeinde Maxdorf is an administrative unit in the legal form of a regional authority in the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . The Verbandsgemeinde belong to three independent local communities , the administrative seat is in the eponymous local community Maxdorf .
The association municipality is the smallest association municipality in Rhineland-Palatinate in terms of floor area with 16.9 square kilometers and was newly formed on the basis of the "Thirteenth State Law on Administrative Simplification in the State of Rhineland-Palatinate" of March 1, 1972 with effect from April 22, 1972.

The blazon of the coat of arms reads: "In fourteen-fold blue and silver stiffened shield border divided by silver goblets, top right in red a golden crown, top left in red a golden mill wheel and below in blue a red-armored and tongued silver eagle."
The coat of arms was approved in 1981 by the Palatinate district government in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse . It contains elements of the coats of arms of the three local parishes.
Partner communities
The Verbandsgemeinde Maxdorf has been in partnership with the French municipality of Longvic in the Côte-d'Or department since 1983 .
