history
The previous Verbandsgemeinde Dudenhofen was established in 1971 as part of the Rhineland-Palatinate functional and territorial reform . Previously, the administrative structures from the Bavarian period (1816 to 1946) essentially applied in the then administrative district of Palatinate . The community Römerberg , which was formed on June 7, 1969 from the former communities Berghausen , Heiligenstein and Mechtersheim , has not previously belonged to any association community.
On September 28, 2010 the state government passed the “First Law on Local and Administrative Reform” with the aim of improving the efficiency, competitiveness and administrative power of local structures. For municipalities it was stipulated that these should include at least 12,000 inhabitants (main residence on June 30, 2009), for municipalities not belonging to the association, the number of inhabitants was set at 10,000. The so-called voluntary phase ended on June 30, 2012.
All participating municipalities agreed on June 28, 2012 the voluntary formation of the new association municipality. The corresponding state law was passed on May 8, 2013.
The state grants the new community of Römerberg-Dudenhofen a one-time, resident-related allocation of 1,082,100 euros on the occasion of its voluntary formation.
