The ordinance on the specialist knowledge and reliability of immission control officers (6th BImSchV) stipulated the requirements that had to be placed on an immission control officer . The ordinance specified the requirements resulting from Section 55 (2) of the Federal Immission Control Act .

The content of the 6th BImSchV - extended to include accident officers - was adopted in 1993 in the ordinance on immission control and accident officers (5th BImSchV). When it came into force, the 6th BImSchV was repealed.
