history
The original Geratal administrative community was formed on June 12, 1992 from the communities of Elgersburg, Geraberg and Martinroda. On July 14, 1993, the communities Angelroda and Neusiß joined the administrative community. As part of the Thuringia regional reform in 2018 and 2019 , the member community Geraberg left the administrative community on January 1, 2019 to form the rural community Geratal with other communities . So that the administrative community Geratal could continue to exist, it was expanded in return to include the town of Plaue from the dissolved administrative community of Upper Geratal . At the same time, the member community of Neusiß was incorporated into the town of Plaue. The administrative community was renamed "Geratal / Plaue" due to the same name as the municipality of Geratal. The Angelroda community, which belonged to the administrative community, was incorporated into the Martinroda community on December 31, 2019.
