The VfL 08 Vichttal is a football club from Stolberg , which from the merger of the 2008 VfL Two case and VfB Vicht emerged. The team will play in the Middle Rhine League for the first time in 2017/18 .

history

The two clubs VfL Zweifall and VfB Vicht were founded in 1927 and 1937 and for a long time only played football in the lower classes. The first team of VfL Zweifall played in the district league B until 2008 and won the championship title there in June 2008. The second team plays in the district league C. The A-youth of the 2007/08 season made it into the performance relay for the second half of the 07/08 season in the first half of the season. In 2008, the merger of VfL 08 Vichttal was created, which started in the district league A from the 2008/09 season. Due to the peculiarity that VfL Zweifall was promoted to the district league A as champion of the district league B and the VfB Vicht as champion of the district league A could not win the playoff against the champion of the other group of the A-league, the extraordinary case occurred that the new VfL Vichttal 2008/09 played with the first and second team in the new single-track district league A of the Aachen soccer district. This constellation is only possible in the district league, in all higher football classes only one team from the same club is allowed to play.

The second team could not hold the class and was relegated to the district league B before the promotion was successful in 2015/16. The first team became champions in the single-track district league A and rose to the district league. The A-Jugend and B-Jugend each played in the district league in the 2016/17 season and were eighth and fifth. In the second year of the regional league membership, the first team became champions in the regional league 3 of the Mittelrhein Football Association and played in the Mittelrhein regional league from the 2011/12 season . In 2017, the season in the state league was finished as runner-up, so that the club will compete in the Middle Rhine League from the 2017/18 season .

Sports park

Since the summer of 2011, VfL 08 Vichttal has had its first artificial turf pitch and a small artificial turf playing field in the city of Stolberg on its club grounds, the Sportpark Dörenberg on 20,000 m². Among other things, the association received a grant of € 250,000 from the city of Stolberg when it merged. The facility causes annual costs of around € 15,000, which according to the association are financed by sponsors, donations and loans. Thanks to the sustained influx of young people, VfL 08 Vichttal has become the largest football club (before the merger, both clubs had a total of 400 members, then almost 700) in Stolberg - in the 2016/17 season it had 20 youth teams and 3 senior teams as well as a representative for the elderly Gentlemen . The club recorded the best visit so far in the 2016/17 association cup match in the round of 16 against FC Viktoria Köln with 800 spectators.
