The Vicelinkirche Pronstorf (also field stone church Pronstorf ) in Pronstorf ( Segeberg district in Schleswig-Holstein ) is one of the East Holstein field stone churches from the 12th century. Similar churches called " Vicelinkirchen " are the Petrikirche in Bosau , the Vicelinkirche in Ratekau , the St. Laurentius Church in Süsel and the St. Johannis Church in Neukirchen .

history

The church was first mentioned in 1198 and is located on a hill in the middle of the village of Pronstorf, surrounded by a cemetery .

It is a single-nave hall church built in the Romanesque style with a long choir and a round tower. The church was predominantly of boulders built and has one with tiles roofed gable roof . The east side of the choir and some supporting pillars were built from bricks .

The tower is supported on the western side by three retaining walls made of field stones - above these three retaining walls the original field stone masonry was replaced by bricks , which is secured by numerous cross anchors . In the front area of the tower there is an opening in which there is an hour bell.

The originally existing apse was removed in the 14th century when the choir was lengthened; this later measure also led to the larger windows in the eastern area of the choir.

In 1958 the church was extensively renovated.
