Victor Trimondi (* 1940 ) is a German writer , religious researcher and former publisher . In 2004 he replaced his original name Herbert Röttgen with his pseudonym Victor Trimondi, which had been used for his publications until then .

Life

Herbert Röttgen completed his law studies at the University of Cologne and then studied philosophy and art history in France and Munich. In 1967 he founded the Trikont publishing house in Cologne / Munich together with Gisela Erler . The publishing house was closely linked to the 1968 movement and its later metamorphoses. From 1975 he and Thomas Schmid published the magazine “ autonomie - materials against the factory society ”, in which Joschka Fischer and Daniel Cohn-Bendit also wrote.

At the end of the 1970s, Röttgen published a criticism of the radical left milieu in his own publishing house: volcanic dances - left and alternative exits . In a "radical change of consciousness" he saw a promising opportunity to solve the problems facing human society. As a result, he turned to spiritual topics and, together with the French writer Christiane Singer, developed a new publishing program that was intended to “promote a discourse between religion and science, tradition and modernity, and between different cultures and religions” . At the same time the publisher was renamed Dianus-Trikont-Verlag .

At the beginning of the 1980s he organized a number of congresses with, among others, the XIV. Dalai Lama , Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker , Joseph Needham and others. In 1986 the publishing house was closed.

In 1989 Röttgen married his current wife Victoria. Dissatisfied with the results of the intercultural and interreligious meetings, they turned to topics such as the “Role of the sexes in cultures and religions” , the “Influence of cult mysteries and myths on history and politics” and the “Meaning of the sacrificial rite in religions and its socio-political function ” . From 1989 to 1991 they planned and organized intercultural events such as "The Art and the Sacred".

In 1990 they founded the “Intercultural Society for Creative Symbol Research” with which they wanted to investigate the “mythological and symbolic backgrounds of the modern history of science” . From 1991 to 1993 they dealt artistically with different journeys. In 1994 they started the multi-year research project "The importance of traditional religion for value formation and creativity in a culture of the future".

Between 1994 and 1998 they created a critique of Tibetan Buddhism as part of their project on the “Importance of traditional religions for value formation and creativity in a culture of the future” . In their first co-authored book "The Shadow of the Dalai Lama - Sexuality, Magic and Politics in Tibetan Buddhism" they sat down with the sexual magic ritual essence of Buddhist Tantric , with the history of Tibetan Buddhism and the role of the Dalai Lama. In the presence apart. The book was controversial in the media. While it was welcomed by some as a demystification of (Tibetan) Buddhism, others criticized the fact that dubious and unsubstantiated sources had been used and that the Tibetan texts and representations were not recorded in their symbolic content, but were interpreted literally.

With "Hitler-Buddha-Krishna - An unholy alliance of the Third Reich to the Present" published Victor and Victoria Trimondi, funded by the Hans Sauer - Foundation (Munich), 2002 their second joint book. In it they show how Heinrich Himmler and the orientalists of the Forschungsgemeinschaft Deutsches Ahnenerbe eV ("SS-Ahnenerbe") tried to transform National Socialism into a political religion and thereby relate to Eastern religious systems such as the Vedanta , the Puranas , the Bhagavad Gita , from Tibetan Buddhism to Zen Buddhism and how this “religious Hitlerism” is still widespread among neo-Nazis today.

In 2004 Herbert Röttgen took over Victor Trimondi and Mariana Röttgen Victoria Trimondi as their real names.

In 2006 Wilhelm Fink Verlag published the book “War of Religions - Politics, Faith and Terror under the Sign of the Apocalypse”, in which the authors put the monotheistic religions to the test and examined their fundamentalist traits and their impact on the present.

Like the previous publications, this last book was received very differently by critics. Burkhard Müller describes it in the Süddeutsche Zeitung “as an inexhaustible treasure trove of quotations. One can hardly believe what orgies of fire and blood appear in the three Holy Scriptures and with what anger and satisfaction they are celebrated and demanded by their modern heralds. "

The theologian, former Catholic priest and sociologist of religion Adolf Holl, on the other hand, sees the book as a "quarry for the features section [...] if there has been another crash somewhere" .

Wilfried von Bredow wrote in the FAZ : “The Trimondis read the violence-soaked sentences of their sources literally in as naive a way as they literally read their sacred texts. In this way, the areas of religion and politics are simply read together. It is dangerous indeed. To prevent such an implosion of politics is an honorable endeavor. But you have to do it a little differently than the Trimondis. "

Nevfel Cumart wrote in the Nürnberger Nachrichten : “In view of the recent developments and upheavals in the Middle East, that of the published Muhammad cartoons in the Islamic world and the worsening confrontation between Iran and the Western world, the content of 'War of Religions' is more topical than ever."
