Viera Toporek (born November 5, 1967 in Smolenice ) is a former Austrian walker , long-distance and mountain runner of Czechoslovak origin.

Career

In 1988 she came to Austria as the wife of walker Martin Toporek - the marriage later divorced.

World Athletics Championships 1991

At the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in 1991 , she came in 34th place in 10 km walking.

At the mountain running world championships in 1993 she took 28th place. In June 1993 she set an Austrian record over 10 km walking with 45:53 minutes, which is still in place today. (As of May 2017)

At the Mountain Running World Championships in 1995 she finished 55th.

So far she has been Austrian champion in 10 km walking 17 times (1990–1996, 1998–2004, 2006, 2007, 2011), three times over 20 km walking (2006, 2007, 2011) and once in cross country running (1995). In the hall she won all six events of the 3000 m walking (1990-1995) and also won the national title in 1997 in the 3000 meter run .

Viera Toporek started for SV Schwechat , LCC Vienna and SC Hakoah Vienna . The mother of one daughter works as a translator in the federal service.
