Viktor von Holleben

Viktor Friedrich Ludwig von Holleben (born February 24, 1737 in Beerbach , † July 6, 1808 in Königsberg ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

His parents were the margrave Colonel Ernst Ludwig von Holleben (* July 16, 1705; † May 13, 1771) and his wife Charlotte Erdmuthe, born von Stürzel (* 1711 in Beerbach) from the Beerbach family.

Military career

In 1751 Holleben joined the Guards on Foot Regiment of the Württemberg Army in Stuttgart . During the Seven Years' War he fought against the Prussians and rose to captain and company commander by June 1760 . On October 17, 1762, Holleben was transferred to the grenadier battalion "from home", but on February 23, 1763 he was returned to the body grenadier regiment. On January 9, 1764 he was then Oberstwachtmeister in the infantry regiment "vacant, von Wolf" until Holleben resigned on August 4, 1765 from the Württemberg service.

The wing adjutant Linckersdorff brought Holleben into Prussian service and introduced him to King Friedrich II on May 7, 1767 . He took him on August 2, 1768 in his guard, where Holleben served until the spring. But it was not until April 1, 1771 that he was employed as captain and company commander in the “von Tettenborn” infantry regiment in the Prussian army. As such, he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . On October 5, 1784, Holleben advanced to major and on October 3, 1785 to battalion commander. He was born on May 23, 1792 Lieutenant Colonel and on January 10, 1794 , Colonel . During the campaign in Poland , Holleben fought in battle near Gawisky in 1794/95. On March 22, 1798 he was appointed regimental commander. Holleben received his resignation as major general on March 25, 1799 with a pension of 800 thalers. On April 9, 1799, he received permission to wear the uniform of his old regiment. After the collapse of Prussia in 1806, he wanted to volunteer, but was refused because of his age. He died on July 6, 1808 in Königsberg.

Holleben married Karoline Luise Albertine von Keith on October 4, 1771 in Königsberg (* 1754 on Moritten; † March 31, 1807). The couple had several children:
