Villa Cruce (also: El Cruce ) is a village in the Oruro department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Villa Cruce is a small settlement in the canton of Challavito in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Toledo in the province of Saucarí . The village is at an altitude of 3723 m . It is located at an important supra-local crossing point of the extensive plain east of the Serranía de Huayllamarca .

Villa Cruce is located in the eastern part of the Bolivian Altiplano between the Serranía de Huayllamarca in the west and the Cordillera Azanaques in the east, which in turn is part of the Bolivian Andean mountain range of the Cordillera Central . Because of its location on the equator, the climate is typical of the time of day and, because of its altitude, it is semi-arid, cool and dry.
The mean average temperature of the region is around 10 ° C (see Oruro climate diagram), the monthly averages fluctuate only slightly between 6 ° C in June / July and just under 14 ° C in November / December. The annual precipitation is only 400 mm, with a clear dry season from May to August with monthly precipitation below 10 mm, and a short humidity period from December to March with 60-85 mm monthly precipitation.
Transport network
Villa Cruce is located at a distance of 90 kilometers by road west of Oruro , the capital of the department.
From Oruro, the paved road Ruta 1 leads north towards Caracollo and La Paz . Five kilometers behind Oruro, a dirt road branches off to the northwest and after 44 kilometers it crosses the Río Desaguadero . From here the road runs for 26 kilometers in a south-westerly direction via La Joya to Lajma and on to Chuquichambi , where the road crosses the Serranía de Huayllamarca . In a north-south direction, a connecting road runs through Lajma between the villages of Papel Pampa in the north and Villa Cruce in the south.

Due to the historical population distribution, the region has a significant proportion of the Aymara population, in the Saucarí province 69.2 percent of the population speak the Aymara language .
