Former Town Hall (Mairie) of Villegats

Villegats is a village and a former French commune of 216 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Charente in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ). It belonged to the Arrondissement Confolens and the canton of Charente-Nord (until 2015 Ruffec ). The inhabitants are called Villegatois .

With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Courcôme , Villegats and Tuzie were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Courcôme of the same name and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Courcôme.

geography

Villegats is about 37 kilometers north of Angoulême . Villegats is surrounded by the neighboring villages of La Faye in the north and north-west, Ruffec in the north and north-east, Barro in the east and north-east, Verteuil-sur-Charente in the east and south-east, Salles-de-Villefagnan in the south, Tuzie in the south-west and Courcôme in the west .
