Vinnie Johnson (musician)
Vinton "Vinnie" Johnson (* 1937 , † 2. June 2012 ) was an American jazz - drummer .
From the late 1960s, Johnson played in the jazz rock formation Stark Reality , which also included guitarist John Abercrombie . In 1972 he recorded with the pianist and arranger Mait Edey ( Birigwa ). Recordings with Michel Herr , Emil Viklický , Bill Frisell and Kermit Driscoll ( Dveře / Door ) followed in the 1980s . He participated in Milt Jackson's 1980 album High Fly and played in the quartet of Olivier Peters ; In 1981, he took with Tal Farlow its Concord-Album Cookin 'On All Burners . In the late 1980s he worked with Hank Roberts and Stanton Davis . Around 1990 Johnson a. a. with the Art Ensemble of Chicago and in Lester Bowies Brass Fantasy .
