The Visborg is a RoPax ship that has been in service between the Swedish mainland and the island of Gotland by the Swedish shipping company Destination Gotland since March 2019 . The ship is named after a fortress in Visby .

General

The ship was commissioned on June 23, 2014 from Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) in Guangzhou, China , and was originally due to be delivered in 2017. The delivery was postponed several times due to delays in completion. The ship was christened on December 8, 2018 in Nanshan and the delivery to the shipping company on December 14, 2018. The transfer trip to Sweden took the Visborg via Hong Kong , Singapore , Durban and the Canary Islands to Öresundsvarvet in Landskrona , where the ship was on January 23 Arrived in 2019.

The Visborg has been in service between the home port of Visby and the mainland ports of Nynäshamn and Oskarshamn since March 28, 2019 .

In addition, when the Visborg was ordered, an option for a second newbuilding, the sister ship Thjelvar , was agreed. The ship was ordered in June 2015 with delivery in 2018 and it was launched on July 24, 2017. The ship was finally delivered on December 30, 2019.

drive

The drive consists of four Wärtsilä 12V50DF dual-fuel engines that can be operated with both diesel fuel and liquid natural gas (LNG) . They each act with 11,700  kW on two controllable pitch propellers and give the Visborg a speed of up to 28.5  knots . The Visborg is supplied with LNG by the company Nauticor.
