Career

Anken started ski jumping at the age of 10 in 2002 after fellow countryman Simon Ammann won gold twice at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City . He had previously competed in alpine skiing. Four years later he started for the first time in international FIS jumping competitions in Schonach, Germany in the Black Forest . In October 2006 he started in the FIS Cup for the first time and finished both competitions in Einsiedeln within the points.

At the Swiss Ski Jumping Championships 2007 in Kandersteg , Anken won the bronze medal with the relay. In December 2007, Anken was used in Engelberg for the first time in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup . However, he remained without points in both competitions. At the Swiss Ski Jumping Championships in Einsiedeln in 2008 , he won his first silver medal in the team competition with the Romand 1 relay , which also included Rémi Français , Guillaume Berney and Antoine Guignard . After further mixed starts in junior jumping, Anken started at the Junior World Championships 2009 in Štrbské Pleso . After a weak 45th place in the individual competition, an 11th place with the team in the team competition followed. After he did not achieve any major successes in the following, he remained completely in the lower series of the Alpine and FIS Cups the following year.

At the Junior World Championships in Hinterzarten in 2010 , Anken again failed to achieve top placements. In the individual competition it was only enough for him to rank 46th. In the team competition he was tenth with the team after the competition. In 2010 Anken won the junior ranking of the Swiss Ski Jumping Cup Helvetia Nordic Trophy for the second time in a row . In October 2010 he secured his first FIS Cup podium with second place in Einsiedeln .

At the Swiss Ski Jumping Championships in Einsiedeln in 2010 , he won the silver medal in a team competition with Rémi Français , Guillaume Berney and Killian Peier .

At the beginning of the 2010/11 season, Anken was used again in the Continental Cup in Rovaniemi and Vikersund , but clearly missed the points. In 2011 Anken became Swiss junior champion in ski jumping. However, after he did not achieve any top placements in the Alpine, FIS and Continental Cups, he officially ended his active ski jumping career after the 2011/12 season.

In 2011 Anken completed his school career at the Einsiedeln Abbey School with the Matura. His brother Olivier Anken was also active as a ski jumper.
