Viva Belgrado is a Spanish post-rock / post-hardcore band from Cordoba that was formed in 2011.

history

Since its foundation in 2011, Viva Belgrado has consisted of the singer and guitarist Cándido Gálvez, the second guitarist Pedro Ruíz, the bassist Ángel Madueño and the drummer Álvaro Moreno.

In 2012 the band released their first demo, followed a year later by the EP El Invierno . Both were reissued in 2013 with bonus tracks and released by the Japanese label Tokyo Jupiter Records . The debut album Flores, Carne , released in 2014 , which is now distributed in the second edition on CD and in the third edition on records via eight record companies worldwide, has sold more than 1,200 times worldwide. In 2016 the second studio album Ulises was released via Aloud Music and Walking Is Still Honest Records.

Since it was founded in 2011, the group has played 120 concerts worldwide. Viva Belgrado played in Japan , the United Kingdom and several times in Europe . These include appearances at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona and the Resurrection Fest in Viveiro .

style

Viva Belgrado mixes elements of post-rock with screamo in their music , whereby the music in the post-rock passages is reminiscent of groups like Envy , Explosions in the Sky , Raein and Moving Mountains . The lyrics of the band are all written in Spanish . The musicians describe themselves as feminist , anti-fascist , are vegetarians and support the LGBT scene, but the band does not deal with any political content in their songs , but rather take up emotional topics in a metaphorical and poetic way. On their debut album Flores, Carne , the musicians deal with coping with losses, the pain this process causes and how one can draw positive energies from it. The band works with the DIY principle common in punk .
