Vjeran Ivanković (born February 24, 1975 in Uzwil ) is a former Swiss ice hockey player and today's coach of Croatian descent who played a total of 630 games for the ZSC Lions , SC Rapperswil-Jona , HC Ambrì-Piotta , EV Zug , Friborg during his career -Gottéron , SC Bern and EHC Basel in the National League A .

Career

Vjeran Ivanković played in his youth at the first division club EHC Uzwil , where he went through the youngsters. His professional career began in 1993 at the Zürcher SC in the National League A . The attacker then received a contract with his league rivals HC Ambrì-Piotta , with whom he won the IIHF Continental Cup at European level in 1998 and 1999 . In addition, he failed in the 1998/99 season only in the playoff final for the Swiss championship at HC Lugano . The 1999/2000 season began with the left shooter at SC Rapperswil-Jona and shortly before the playoffs he moved to his former club from Zurich , which had since been renamed ZSC Lions. With the Lions he was the first Swiss champion in 2000 .

From 2000 to 2006 the Swiss-Croatian dual citizen played in the NLA for EV Zug , again for the ZSC Lions, SC Bern and his ex-club from Ambrì-Piotta. With Bern he was once again Swiss champion in the 2003/04 season . The former national player spent a large part of the 2004/05 season in the second-rate National League B at EHC Basel .

Ivanković worked as an ice hockey expert for the television station Teleclub and writes ice hockey columns for the newspaper 20 Minuten . From 2009 to 2011 he was the assistant coach of the U17 juniors at the ZSC Lions. He has been the junior head coach at HC Davos since summer 2011 .

International

For the Swiss U20 national ice hockey team Ivanković took part in the B-European Championship in 1993, as well as the Junior A World Championship in 1994 and the Junior B World Championship in 1995 . At the B-World Championship he achieved promotion with his team and was top scorer with ten points and was elected to the All-Star Team. For the senior team , he only competed in the 1995 World Cup . He played a total of 48 international matches for Switzerland.
