Vladimír Sičák (born December 1, 1980 in Jindřichův Hradec , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player who was under contract with HC Energie Karlovy Vary in the Czech extra league in September 2014 .

Career

Vladimír Sičák began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of KLH Vajgar Jindřichův Hradec . From there he moved to HC České Budějovice , for whose professional team he made his debut in the extra league in the 1998/99 season . There he began the following season , before he spent a year and a half for the Medicine Hat Tigers in the Canadian junior Western Hockey League . In the 2000/01 season he played for the North American minor league teams Orlando Solar Bears in the International Hockey League and Greenville Grrrowl in the East Coast Hockey League .

In the summer of 2001, Sičák returned to Europe, where he was under contract with HPK Hämeenlinna in the Finnish SM-liiga for the next four years . The 2005/06 season he began with MODO Hockey in the Swedish Elitserien , but returned during the season in the SM-liiga, in which he ran up in the following one and a half seasons for TPS Turku . From 2007 to 2009 he was under contract with his ex-club HC České Budějovice in the Extraliga. For this he also played four games in the Champions Hockey League at European level in the 2008/09 season . He spent the 2009/10 season at HC Vítkovice Steel , for which he scored nine goals in the main round in 50 games, making him, together with his compatriot Jaroslav Modrý, the most successful goalscorer of all Extraliga defenders. In the playoffs he failed with his team only in the final at HC Pardubice .

In the 2010/11 season Sičák played for the Finnish club Kärpät Oulu . With this he played first in preparation for the European Trophy and then in the SM-liiga. In the playoffs he was eliminated with Kärpät in qualification. For the 2011/12 season he returned to his Czech homeland and signed a contract with HC Pardubice from the Extraliga. With Pardubice he won the Czech championship at the end of the 2011/12 season, scoring 24 points in a total of 60 games this season.

In October 2012 Sičák moved within the Extraliga in the Czech capital to HC Sparta Prague , with whom he won the main round of the Extraliga ( President's Cup ) and reached the playoff semi-finals in the 2013/2014 season .

Sičák has been under contract with HC Energie Karlovy Vary since September 2014 and has been assistant captain there since 2015.

International

For the Czech Republic , Sičák only took part in the U18 European Junior Championship in 1998 in the junior division. In the senior sector he was in his country's squad for the Euro Hockey Tour in 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2010 .
