The Vole au Vent is an installation ship built in 2013 as a Vidar at the Crist shipyard .

history

The ship was built for Hochtief Solutions AG at the Crist shipyard in Gdynia, Poland , and is classified by the classification society DNV GL . It was on 12 December 2013 Bremerhaven on the name Vidar baptized and taken to driving under the German flag.

When Hochtief withdrew from the offshore sector, the ship was sold to the Jan de Nul Group in mid-2015 . The ship's new name became Vole au Vent . The christening took place on April 28, 2016 in Ostend. The Jan de Nul Group brought the ship under the flag of Luxembourg.

Technical specifications

The ship is around 140 meters long and 41 meters wide and has a side height of 9.5 meters. The free deck area for cargo is 3,100 m² and is designed for a specific deck load of 15 t / m². The Vole au Vent has a payload of up to 6,500 t. There are cabins for a total of 90 people.

The diesel-electric powered ship has an installed electric power of 24,000  kW . For electricity generation are six MaK Caterpillar - diesel generators (type 8M32C) are available. The ship also has a Caterpillar emergency power generator with a nominal output of 700 kW.

The nominal speed is 10.2  knots , a maximum of 12 knots is possible.

Furnishing

The four lifting legs for use up to a depth of 50 meters are 90 m long and have a diameter of 4.8 m. At the bottom of the legs are feet known as "Spud Cans", each with an area of ​​125 m². The lifting system has a lifting force of 24,000 t at a maximum lifting speed of 0.83 m / min. The ship has two moon pools with a diameter of 0.9 m as additional equipment .

The main crane , a Liebherr CAL 45000 1200 Litronic offshore crane, is designed for a lifting capacity of 1,200 t with a 27.5 m design. The crane's boom is 108 meters long.
