Volkmar Joseph Ellmauthaler (born May 26, 1957 in Gersthof , Vienna ) is an Austrian medical psychologist , supervisor , church musician , choir director , composer and author .

education

In 1975 Ellmauthaler graduated from high school in Vienna. He then received musical training for piano, organ, composition and conducting / church music.

He completed academic studies in medical psychology with Erwin Ringel and Hans Strotzka , psychoanalysis with Raoul Schindler and philosophy with Günther Pöltner , Fritz Wallner and Augustinus Karl Wucherer-Huldenfeld, among others . 1985/1986 he attended a private degree with Karl R. Popper .

He initially financed his studies as a private teacher for German and English, followed by several years of teaching at the Klosterneuburg Music School (organ, theory, work analysis and composition). During this time Ellmauthaler was active as a church musician and choir director of several choirs in Vienna and the city choir Klosterneuburg. In 1989 he was awarded the second prize for organ composition in Bergamo at the Concorso Olivier Messiaen . He received three state grants for compositions.

As a lecturer in adult education in Vienna, he was the founder and head of the specialist group for medicine, psychology and health professions. He completed additional training in group dynamics and gestalt psychology , also as a supervisor (ÖGSV 1992, Austrian Association for Supervision (ÖVS) 1994) and further training as a teaching supervisor (2007 in Austria and 2015 in Switzerland). Since 1989 he has been working as a psychological consultant (methods: psychoanalysis , group dynamics) and supervisor or coach in private practice in Vienna with seminars at home and abroad.

Focus: advanced training - optimization of motivation and processes in the workplace, especially clinic and palliative care, prevention of sexual offenses, support for helper conferences .

Ellmauthaler was a member of the Interest Group of Lower Austrian Composers (INÖK), the Austrian Society for Supervision (ÖSV) and is a member of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce .

He has been working in private practice in Vienna since 1989, with a secondary interest in ethics - especially in naturism.

He is married to the Germanist Birgit Ellmauthaler.

His cousin, Markus Schirmer , is a pianist and professor at the Graz University of Art.
