The Volksbank - Raiffeisenbank Vilshofen eG is a cooperative bank based in Vilshofen in Bavaria . Its business area includes parts of the Deggendorf and Passau districts . The bank was created retroactively as of January 1, 2017 from the merger of Volksbank Vilshofen with Raiffeisenbank Vilshofener Land.

history

The roots of the bank go back to 1894, when a predecessor of the Raiffeisenbank Vilshofener Land was founded.

The first ideas of founding a cooperative bank in Vilshofen an der Donau came from the Volksbildungsclub in 1903. On December 16, 1904, twenty men from the middle class, including craftsmen, merchants, the two city parish co-operatives and a tax overseer, gathered in the “Zur golden Krone” inn in Vilshofen to found a cooperative to remedy the credit problems for the entire trade. The new institute was called “Vilshofen Credit Cooperative”.

In the early days of the bank, business was carried out in the office of the first board member. In 1910 the company moved to Donaugasse 22 before moving into a newly built property at Kapuzinerstraße 30 three years later. In 1917 the name of the cooperative was first changed to "Bank for Agriculture and Commerce". The last move took place in 1921, when the former Stockmeier brewery was set up at Stadtplatz 12 after a two-year renovation period. The credit cooperative , which was renamed Volksbank Vilshofen eG in 1973, still has its headquarters in this building .

With the entry in the cooperative register on June 21, 2017, the merger of Volksbank Vilshofen with Raiffeisenbank Vilshofener Land took place to form today's Volksbank - Raiffeisenbank Vilshofen eG.
