The Volksbank Stuttgart eG is after the Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg and the BBBank the third largest credit union in Baden-Wuerttemberg . It ranks 13th among the cooperative banks in Germany . Its business area extends over the city of Stuttgart and the surrounding communities as well as large parts of the Rems-Murr district .

history

Volksbank Stuttgart was created in 2010 through the merger between Volksbank Rems eG and Stuttgarter Volksbank AG. For the first time in Germany, a stock corporation (Stuttgarter Volksbank) was merged into a cooperative . In 2015, the merger with Korber Bank eG followed , in 2016 the merger with Kerner Volksbank eG and VR-Bank Weinstadt eG , and in 2018 the merger with Raiffeisenbank Urbach .
In 2019, Volksbank Stuttgart will move into its new headquarters in Daimlerstrasse (Neckarpark industrial park). The previous head office in Börsenstrasse will then become the inner-city regional headquarters.

Volksbank Rems

Volksbank Rems eG was also created through several mergers. Specifically through the merger of Volksbank Schorndorf eG, founded in 1862, with Volksbank Waiblingen eG in 2002, in 2005 the merger with Volksbank Winnenden eG and in 2009 Hegnacher Bank eG was added.

Volksbank Waiblingen

On March 4, 1865 29 citizens, artisans and merchants founded the Gasthaus Adler in Waiblingen the Commercial Bank Waiblingen . From 1867 onwards, the cashier who did the main work received an annual compensation of 25 guilders . In 1872 it was officially registered as the Waiblingen commercial bank, a registered cooperative at the Waiblingen Royal Higher Regional Court . As part of the standardization of the company names by the German Cooperative Association from 1938, the bank was renamed Volksbank Waiblingen in 1940 . After the Federal Republic of Germany was founded in 1945, further branches were opened in the surrounding communities of Waiblingen and Fellbach, in 1963 the new office building in Waiblinger Bahnhofsstraße was opened and in 1965 the 100th anniversary was celebrated.

Volksbank Winnenden

On April 19, 1865, the Winnenden commercial bank was founded as the first financial institution in Winnenden . In the year it was founded, the bank had 89 members and total assets of 33,319 guilders. From 1935 the bank operated as Winnender Bank and from 1940 as Volksbank Winnenden . In 1978 the business area, the balance sheet total and the number of branches grew significantly through mergers with Schwaikheimer Bank , the Höfen-Hertmannsweiler cooperative bank and the Raiffeisenbank Berglen .

Stuttgart Volksbank

On November 13, 1913, a cooperative bank for house a. Landowner founded who started business on February 16, 1914 as a bank for house and property in Stuttgart eGmbH . The institute's main business area was mortgages . In 1922 the bank was renamed "Stuttgarter Bank eGmbH". From 1925 to 1950 branches were established in the Stuttgart city area, including in Cannstatt , Heslach and Gablenberg . In 1935 the new main office in Schlossstrasse / Seestrasse was completed. In 1970, through the merger with Feuerbacher Volksbank, the Stuttgarter Volksbank was created , which was converted into a stock corporation in 1973. Korber bench

The Korber Bank was founded in 1913 by 73 Korber citizens as the Korb-Steinreinach Loan Association.

Kerner Volksbank

The Kerner Volksbank eG emerged from a merger of the Stettener Bank and the Rommelshauser Bank.

Stetten Bank

On July 10, 1893, the loan association Stetten iR was founded by 53 men in the town hall of Stetten , modeled on Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen . Apart from banking, the association also served as an association for cheap shopping in the agricultural sector and for joint harvest marketing. Social Commitment

Volksbank Stuttgart actively promotes the development of the region by supporting local community foundations and investing in local social projects. This includes the support of associations, non-profit institutions, kindergarten and school projects, senior events and concerts.

"Bankers"

Volksbank Stuttgart calls its members “bankers”, this is intended to make it clear that the members are not only customers of the bank, but can also actively participate in decision-making as shareholders. However, the term banker does not have the meaning of the banker according to §39 KWG.
