The Socialist Republic of Slovenia ( Slovenian Socialistična Republika Slovenija until 1963: People's Republic of Slovenia , Slovenian Ljudska republika Slovenija ; Serbo-Croatian Socijalistička Republika Slovenija / Социјалистичка Република Словенија ) was a member state of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia , which was from 1945 to 1991. Until the elections in 1990, the League of Communists of Slovenia was the ruling party.
On March 7, 1990, the Socialist Republic of Slovenia was transformed into a parliamentary republic and renamed the Republic of Slovenia . On June 25, 1991, the Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Croatia declared their independence from Yugoslavia.
designation
In 1946 Slovenia was officially named the People's Republic of Slovenia (Slovenian: Ljudska republika Slovenija , Serbo-Croatian: Narodna Republika Slovenija ). With the constitution of 1963, it was renamed the Socialist Republic of Slovenia .
In March 1990 the term "socialist" was removed from the name.

The official title was Chairman of the Liberation Front until 1945, President of the Presidium of the People's Assembly from 1945 to 1953, President of the People's Assembly from 1953 to 1974 and again President of the Presidium of the People's Assembly from 1974 to 1990.
