Obsessed by all ghosts! (Original title: Repossessed ) is an American horror comedy from 1990 . Linda Blair and Leslie Nielsen played the main roles . It is a parody of the horror film The Exorcist .

action

When Nancy Aglet was possessed by the devil in 1973, the devil was cast out by Father Jedediah Mayii. Almost 20 years later, Aglet is a housewife in a typical American suburban family. A supernatural being takes possession of her from the television set; she is behaving strangely again. Her face is colored green, she is uttering obscene truths. The doctors can't help her. She turns to Mayii, who declares himself too old to expel the devil. He referred her to the inexperienced Catholic clergyman, Father Luke Brophy. When he seeks support for the exorcism in the leadership of the Catholic Church, the matter is instead turned into the hands of the media-savvy and greedy television preacher Ernest Weller. He wants to show the exorcism in the form of a show live on television. The transmission turns into a disaster.

Only after Satan challenges Mayii directly via the television cameras, he pulls himself up and rushes to the scene. Together with his assistant, Father Brophy, they succeed in driving out after it turns out that Satan does not like rock music . Father Mayii and Father Luke play music with dignitaries of other religions who happen to be present in a joint rock band. The devil finds this unbearable and leaves Nancy Aglet's body.

Nancy Aglet and Father Mayii describe the events in a framework story in front of a class of students. When one of the students objects that the story was made up, they spit the doubter all over with green mush.

Reviews

"Desert parody of the" exorcism "films as well as of hypocritically boisterous American television preachers who lose their aim and rhythm in a wild mixture of gags, platitudes and some taste insecurities, whereby the synchronization literally" drives out "the film's already low entertainment value. "

"Conclusion:" The Exorcist "reloaded: a meager genre parody."

“With absurd jokes and merciless humor, the fight against Satan, as well as the church, TV evangelists and of course the horror classic" The Exorcist "is pulled through the cocoa. Even Linda Blair, who became famous for her role as the obsessed child, could be won over to the not always accurate, but all the more exuberant slapstick. Even if similar chaos comedies like "The unbelievable journey in a crazy plane", "Top Secret" or especially "The naked cannon 1" & "-2 1/2" were more convincing, the always rousing Leslie Nielsen becomes single-handedly ensure the success of the comedy. "
