The preparatory course is a type of school in Austria which, as a course , enables graduates of a vocational school with a final apprenticeship examination (LAP) to attend a vocational college (BHS), some types of grammar school or an advanced course / college .
Education plan
The prerequisite is a completed apprenticeship in the dual training and in some subjects (especially technical) a successfully completed eighth grade .
The curriculum includes the general compulsory subjects religion, German, English, economic history and political education, applied mathematics, and those of the curriculum that is being prepared for, and a block in the subject area in the case of vocational schools. The number of hours is usually around 35 lessons per week.
The qualification enables one to attend one of the secondary schools that conclude with a maturity or maturity and diploma examination (Matura and / or higher professional qualification).
Schools with advanced courses
Preparatory courses (modules) are offered by the respective schools.
In particular, these courses are available in the following school types:
- Transitional level to upper secondary school (ORG)
- Transitional level to the advanced high school and advanced high school (AG / ARG)
- Preparatory course for the higher education institution for employed persons at an HTL (numerous subjects)
- Preparatory courses for admission to a commercial college (KHS, entry into the 3rd year of a HAK )
