The Voyageurs National Park is a national park in the United States . The park is located in northern Minnesota on the border with Canada . Its name recalls the French-Canadian fur traders who were the first Europeans to invade the region.
The park was founded in 1975 and, with its numerous lakes and bays, is a paradise for excursions by kayak or canoe . The Kabetogama Peninsula is suitable for hiking . Cross-country skiing and snowmobiling are popular in winter . One of the numerous lakes is Rainy Lake , which is only partly in the national park and partly in Canada.
Among other things, the endangered wolf and the bald eagle live in the Voyageurs National Park .
