Vyas (Transliteration also Byas ) is a city ( municipality ) in the Tanahu district in Nepal , approx. 38 km (as the crow flies) southeast of Pokhara .

The city arose from the merger of the place Damauli with some neighboring communities; therefore Damauli is still a common name for the city. Damauli forms the center of the city and is the seat of the district administration. In 2014, the southeastern Village Development Committee Pokhari Bhanjyang was incorporated.

Vyas is located slightly above the Madi Khola , a left tributary of the Seti Gandaki . A 300 m long bridge crosses the river at Vyas. The city is located on the Prithvi Rajmarg , the country road from Kathmandu to Pokhara . The urban area covers 86 km².

Residents

At the 2011 census, the city of Vyas (including Pokhari Bhanjyang ) had 46,877 inhabitants (21,191 of whom were male) in 12,300 households.
