Władysław Aleksander Łubieński
Władysław Aleksander Łubieński Herb Pomian (born November 1, 1703 in Galicia ; † June 21, 1767 in Gniezno ) was Archbishop of Lemberg , Archbishop of Gniezno and Primate of Poland-Lithuania and Interrex of Poland-Lithuania in 1763 .
Life
He attended the Jesuit school in Kalisch and then made several major trips through Europe. He then entered the clergy and was successively dean in Gniezno, Scholasticus in Cracow , cathedral curator in Sandomierz , infuled provost in Łask , deputy of the royal tribunal and clerk of the crown . After the death of Mikołaj Dembowski he was elected Archbishop of Lemberg on December 1, 1757 , confirmation by Pope Clement XIII. took place on March 13 of the following year. He was ordained bishop on May 7, 1758 in Warsaw by the Archbishop of Gniezno Adam Ignacy Komorowski ; Co- consecrators were Antoni Sebastian Dembowski , Bishop of Włocławek ( Kuyavia ), and Kajetan Ignacy Sołtyk , Bishop of Kiev and Zhytomyr . Already on April 9, 1759 Władysław Łubieński was appointed Archbishop of Gniezno, which he remained until his death. In Kalinowa he was appointed Primate of Poland-Lithuania. He enjoyed the special favor of the Polish King Stanislaus II August Poniatowski .
According to his nephew Feliks Łubieński , he died of poison that was given him in a cup; the nephew used to show this cup to his guests.
He was the brother of Florian Łubieński and the uncle of the Polish politician Feliks Łubieński.
