The Wahnborn in the Lower Harz is an approximately 600 m long, right and southwestern tributary of the Katzsohlbach in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The Wahnborn rises and runs in the Lower Harz in the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt Nature Park in the extreme southwestern tip of the Harzgerode urban area . Its source is just under 3 km west of Breitenstein , a district of the Südharz community in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz , which is adjacent to the stream area , east of the Große Harzhöhe ( 599.3  m ) and north of the Kriegskeads ( 593.3  m ) at about 556  m above sea level. NN .

After almost 50 m of its flow section in the forest, the Wahnborn crosses a wide forest path. Initially it flows northeastwards and then north-northeastwards. Finally , the Wahnborn flows almost 2.5 km west of Breitenstein at 512.2  m above sea level. NN in the Selke tributary Katzsohlbach .
