Waizenbach is a district of the Lower Franconian municipality of Wartmannsroth in the Bavarian district of Bad Kissingen .

Geographical location

Schwärzelbach is located south of Wartmannsroth.

The St 2302 running through Schwärzelbach leads south to Gräfendorf and north to Wartmannsroth. From Waizenbach, the St 2293 leads in a south-easterly direction to Diebach , a district of Hammelburg .

history

In 777 the Waizenbach settlement came into the possession of the Fulda monastery , in 815 it came to the barons of Thüngen , who also built a moated castle in Waizenbach. The first known mention of the place took place in 1155 as "Wizenbach".

Waizenbach belonged to the parish Wolfsmünster. As early as 1400 there was a school built by the von Thüngen family in the village. The current school building was built in 1570 as an administration building.

On April 19, 1827, a Bavarian deanery of the Evangelical Lutheran Church was established in the village , which was expanded to include Lohr am Main (1890), Brückenau , Hammelburg and Marktheidenfeld (1928) and moved to Lohr am Main in 1929.

In the bombing raid on April 5, 1945, the Evangelical Lutheran castle church, built in 1583, as well as four residential buildings and 16 barns fell victim. In 1950 a new church was built.

The town's sewer system was built in 1952, followed by a water pipe four years later. Furthermore, the local road (1958) and the district road (1959) were paved.

As part of the municipal reform , Waizenbach became a district of Wartmannsroth on May 1, 1978.

Buildings and plants

Waizenbach Castle

The Waizenbach Castle was built in 1570 by Dietz von Thüngen built and his wife Agatha of Seckendorf. In the course of the following centuries it changed hands several times. The current manager of the castle is Baron Michael von Truchsess.

Protestant church

A first Protestant church in the village with a steeple from the 16th century and a nave from the 18th century was destroyed in the Second World War. Today's Protestant church in the village was consecrated in 1950.
