The forest water is a left-hand tributary of the Kaltbach between Schirgiswalde-Kirschau and Sohland on the Spree in the Saxon district of Bautzen with a length of three kilometers.

The forest water rises east of Weifa on the mountain meadows Weifaer Follow on the southeast slope of the Weifaer Höhe ( 504  m ). Its source grounds belong to the catchment area of ​​the Schirgiswalde water supply. On its course, which always leads south-east, the stream initially flows south past Neuschirgiswalde . Then his run leads between the Hohberg ( 426  m ) and the Frins ( 453  m ) and Funkenberg through hell. At the lower exit of Wehrsdorf , the stream finally flows into the Kaltbach after three kilometers at the Niedermühle .

The streambed of the lower reaches is partly passed with upright memory , there are also occurrences of ostrich fern .

history

From 1635 to 1845, the course of the forest water formed the southwestern border between the Schirgiswalde enclave and Upper Lusatia . Today the municipal boundary between Schirgiswalde-Kirschau and Sohland an der Spree runs along the stream .
