The Kaltbach , on the Unterlauf also Scheidenbach , is a left-hand tributary of the upper Spree between Sohland an der Spree and Schirgiswalde-Kirschau in the Saxon district of Bautzen with a length of almost eight kilometers.

description

The Kaltbach rises east of the Hutberg ( 500  m ) in the southern part of the Steinigtwolmsdorf district . Its upper course initially leads in a north-easterly direction between the Petersberg ( Srní , 463  m ) and the Mannsberg ( 456  m ) and the Höllenhübel ( 500  m ) through forest and meadows. At the southwestern foot of the Steinberg ( 446  m ) the brook reaches Wehrsdorf . The local development of Wehrsdorf extends along its entire middle course.

At the eastern foot of the Funkenburg hill ( 376  m ), the forest water flows into the stream below the Hohberg at the Niedermühle . On its lower course, which until 1845 formed the southern border of the Bohemian exclave Schirgiswalde , this section, also known as Scheidenbach , meanders past the settlements of Neuscheidenbach , Petersbach and Altscheidenbach through a wide meadow to the east. It is bridged between Altscheidenbach and Petersbach by the Oberoderwitz – Wilthen railway line and State Road 116. To the southwest of the Kälbersteine ( 487  m ) the Kaltbach flows into the Spree near Petersbach.

Tributaries

The Steinbergwasser and, coming from the Waldbad , the Tännicht River flow into Wehrsdorf . The forest water flows below Wehrsdorf and the Tännicht water at Neuscheidenbach.
