Walkenstein is a village and a cadastral municipality in the municipality of Sigmundsherberg in the Horn district in Lower Austria .

Settlement development

At the turn of the year 1979/1980 there were a total of 50 building areas with 29,751 m² and 62 gardens on 83,769 m² in the cadastral community Walkenstein , in 1989/1990 there were 46 building areas. In 1999/2000 the number of building areas had grown to 76 and in 2009/2010 there were 82 buildings on 208 building areas.

Land use

The cadastral community is characterized by agriculture. 304 hectares were used for agriculture at the turn of the year 1979/1980 and 166 hectares were forest areas. In 1999/2000 agriculture was carried out on 305 hectares and 168 hectares were designated as areas used for forestry. At the end of 2018, 292 hectares were used as agricultural land and forestry was carried out on 170 hectares. The average soil climate of Walkenstein is 42.9 (as of 2010).
