Missingdorf is a locality and a cadastral municipality of the municipality of Sigmundsherberg , the district of Horn and the federal state of Lower Austria .

The village lies on the border of the Waldviertel and Weinviertel . On January 1, 2020, Missingdorf had 101 residents. Ecclesiastically Missingdorf belongs to the parish Pulkau ( Hollabrunn district ).

history

Missingdorf was already settled in the Neolithic .

Hainricus de Mizzingdorf can be traced back to the 12th century as the first owner of the estate. The Missingdorf fortress was owned by the Counts of Hardegg from 1567 to 1594 . From the former moated castle (see Vischer engraving) from the 16./17. In the 19th century, the west wing was used as a farm yard and the square tower in the south, which was converted into a chapel in 1405.

economy

In economic terms it is dominated by agriculture, but fruit growing and the production of fruit brandies should be emphasized.

Others

In Vienna's 14th district of Penzing , Missindorfstrasse commemorates the rule of Hans (since 1415), Stefan (since 1423) and Wolfgang (since 1445) Missin (g) dorf over the suburb Breitensee . The knightly family came from Missendorf [sic!] Near Horn.
