The wasteland lies on the left bank of the Wörnitz . The commercial area of Wilburgstetten borders in the southwest, and a swampy area with a few ponds in the north.

Walkhof was founded in 1925 in the municipality of Knittelsbach . On April 1, 1971, the place was incorporated into Wilburgstetten as part of the regional reform .
