Wallace Kyle
Air Chief Marshal Sir Wallace Hart Kyle GCB KCVO CBE DSO DFC (* 22. January 1910 in Kalgoorlie , Western Australia , Australia ; † 31 January 1988 in Lymington , England ) was an Australian officer in the Royal Air Force (RAF) and later Governor from Western Australia .
Life
Born in Kalgoorlie , Western Australia , Kyle joined the RAF in 1929 and served in World War II and the Malayan Emergency , a guerrilla war between colonial power Great Britain and Malay separatists. He led a number of former ranks, including that of the Vice Chief of the Air Staff and commander-in-chief of Bomber Command and Strike Command . In 1975 he became governor of Western Australia. He held this office until 1980 before he later came to England. He died there on January 31, 1988.
