Walter Brugger (theologian)
Walter Brugger (born December 21, 1928 in Laufen an der Salzach ) is a Bavarian theologian and author of books on the art and regional history of Old Bavaria .
Life
Brugger studied art history , philosophy and Catholic theology in Freising and Munich , where he was a member of the KBSt.V. Rhaetia became. Then he was a lecturer in the seminary and city pastor in Freising. In 1979 he received his doctorate at the theological faculty of the University of Salzburg . From 1982 to 1995 he was pastor in Berchtesgaden and dean of the surrounding parishes . Pope John Paul II awarded him the title of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness on October 6, 1987 . On October 31, 2008, Walter Brugger was appointed honorary canon of the Mattighofen Collegiate Foundation , on which he wrote his doctoral thesis.
Prelate Brugger currently lives as curate of the Wieskirche near Freising . He is the author of numerous art and regional history publications and of church leaders for Old Bavaria. He was also the initiator, editor and author of several articles in the multi-volume “History of Berchtesgaden” and co-editor of a book about the Frauenchiemsee monastery (2003).
