Walter Gassmann
Walter Gaßmann (born March 3, 1903 in Stuttgart , † January 9, 1979 in Vero Beach, Indian River, Florida ) was a German industrial manager and politician ( CDU ).
Life and work
After attending the Catholic high school , Gaßmann embarked on an administrative career. In 1924 he passed the examination for the higher administrative service and in 1925 became Sparkasse Manager. In 1937/38 he worked in public auditing and auditing. In 1938 he moved from civil service to Daimler-Benz AG , where he became department head and director. In 1957 he became a deputy member of the Board of Management of Daimler-Benz AG.
He worked in several voluntary functions. In 1955 he became Vice President of the International Social Security Association in Geneva and Chairman of the Board of the Association of German Pension Insurance Institutions . A year later he was appointed to the advisory board for the reorganization of social benefits at the Federal Ministry of Labor. In 1957 he became deputy chairman of the board of directors of the Federal Agency for Employment and Unemployment Welfare .
Walter Gaßmann was a member of the German Society for the United Nations ; from 1960 chairman of the regional association in Baden-Württemberg. In 1960 he became a member of the Committee of the Social Fund of the European Economic Community in Brussels.
In 1957 he was appointed Knight of the Papal Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Nicola Cardinal Canali and invested in Cologne on December 7, 1957 by Lorenz Jaeger , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy . He belonged to the Commandery of Stuttgart. He was a Grand Officer of the Order.
