Walter Hagen (painter, 1928)
Walter Hagen (born February 28, 1928 in Regensburg ; † September 21, 1980 in Hemau ) was a German painter , graphic artist and restorer .
Life
After completing school, labor and military service, Hagen completed an apprenticeship as a painter up to the master's examination. He then attended the private painting and drawing school Die Form von Hein König in Munich .
From 1953 he lived in Hemau and was a member of the BBK Niederbayern / Oberpfalz , where he was managing director from 1962 to 1967. In 1979 he was appointed local home attendant in Hemau . A year later he died of a heart attack. He left behind his wife Ingrid Hagen-Zöller, who was second married to Wolfgang Zöller from Düsseldorf, who actively promoted the artistic memory of Walter Hagen.
Hagen mainly created portraits and artistic depictions of the people in his home region of Upper Palatinate. He also made a number of large-format murals, including in the Hemau children's home and at the cemetery in the Hohenschambach district. Another mural by Hagens was on the gable wall of the former Hemau hospital until the building was demolished in 2012.
