Walter cards
Walter cards (* 18th November 1934 in Rheydt ) is a German business economist and Emeritus Professor of Business Administration (Business Administration) and Insurance Management at the University of Hamburg .
Life
From 1954 to 1956, Walter Karten completed an apprenticeship as an insurance salesman at the Provinzial Feuerversicherungsanstalt der Rheinprovinz in Düsseldorf . From 1956 to 1959 he worked as a clerk at this insurance company . Until 1970, Karten also worked part-time in the field.
From 1956 to 1965 studied it Business Administration (BWL) at the University of Cologne . In 1961, Karten obtained his degree in business administration (Dipl.-Kfm.).
In 1965 he achieved his doctorate at the University of Cologne . The topic of his dissertation was the basics of a risk-adjusted fluctuation fund for insurance companies . From 1961 to 1970 he worked as a research assistant / research assistant at the seminar for insurance theory and 1963/64 at the seminar for economic and social statistics at the University of Cologne.
In 1970 Walter Karten became a full university professor for general business administration and insurance management at the University of Hamburg .
From 1970 to 1998 he was head of studies at the Institute for Professional Training in the Insurance Industry in Hamburg. Since 1975, Karten has been the director of studies at the German Insurance Academy (DVA) in Hamburg.
On April 1st, 2000 Walter Karten retired.
Walter Karten was visiting professor in Vienna , Istanbul , Accra and Shanghai . He was a professor at the Chinese-German College of Tongji University in Shanghai.
Research priorities
His main research interests were decision theory , risk policy ( risk management ), risk and insurance technology, and business functions in insurance operations.
