Walter López , full name Walter Alberto López Gasco , (born October 15, 1985 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

The 1.82 meter tall defensive player López was at the beginning of his career in the 2003 season on the squad of the then second division Racing and played there in the 2003 Apertura 13 games (one goal) in the Segunda División . This was followed by a stint at the Argentine club CA San Martín de Tucumán in 2004. From there he moved to River Plate Montevideo and played 44 times (five goals) in the Primera División for the “Darseneros” team from 2005 ( 2005: 2 games / 1 goal, 2005/06: 31/3, Apertura 2006: 11/1). In mid-January 2007 he joined the Spanish club Deportivo Xerez on loan . In the 2006/07 season he was there eleven times (no goal) in the Liga BBVA . In the Apertura 2007 he played three games (no goal) in the Primera División - also as part of a loan that started in July 2007 . In the Clausura 2008 he was again active for River Plate Montevideo and completed two first division games (no goal). After his contract with the Montevideans expired, his career path led to West Ham United in England in early September 2008 . He signed a one-year contract. He ran in four games (no goal) in the Premier League in the 2008/09 season . In mid-September 2009 he continued his career as a loan player in Italy with Brescia Calcio . In the ranks of the Italians there are 32 games in the second-rate Serie B in the 2009/10 season . In doing so, he scored a hit. In the 2010/11 season followed a station in Romania's top division at Universitatea Craiova . After four first division appearances (no goal), he moved back to Uruguay in July 2011 for Club Atlético Peñarol . With the "Aurinegros" he was used in the 2011/12 season in 13 league games, scored two goals and already moved during the season on loan after the Apertura in January 2012 to the Paraguayan club Cerro Porteño . At the club from the capital Asunción , he ran a total of 28 first division games, scored three goals and won the Apertura 2012 with the team. He was also used seven times (one goal) in the Copa Sudamericana . In early January 2013 he returned to Peñarol and contributed with three league appearances (no goal) in the remainder of the 2012/13 season to win the Uruguayan championship. National team

López made his debut on May 21, 2006 with a starting eleven in the 1-0 win in the friendly against Northern Ireland under coach Óscar Tabárez in the Uruguayan senior team . It completed two more international matches on May 27, 2006 against the selection of Serbia and Montenegro and on June 2, 2006 against Tunisia .
