Walter J. Zielniok

Walter J. Zielniok (born June 2, 1930 in Kattowitz ; † June 22, 2012 in Bergheim ) was a German pedagogue who was mainly active in pedagogy for the disabled . He was the founder of africa action / Germany , its long-time chairman and co-founder of its foundation.

Life

Walter J. Zielniok lived in Bad Salzbrunn from 1937 and in Schöppenstedt from 1946 . From 1947 he attended the boarding school for expellees in Recklinghausen . In 1952 he began studying at the University of Education in Essen-Kupferdreh . From 1955 he worked as a teacher in Morken-Harff , Habbelrath and Türnich . From 1966 to 1980 he was the founder and rector of the Bergheim special school in Niederaussem . From 1980 to 1997 he worked as a lecturer at the Institute for Teacher Training in Essen .

In 1978, together with Gerhard Zimmer and Ulrich Weiß, he founded the sponsoring association for the “Center for Educational Early Support and Advice Erftkreis ” (today “Caritas Early Support Center Rhein-Erft”).

In 1981, under the editorship of Zielniok, the magazine “Learn more” was published for the first time. This replaced the information service "learning disabilities" from the 1970s and still contributes significantly to information, exchange and networking in the "Promoting Learning - Federal Association for the Promotion of People with Learning Disabilities", in which Zielniok was involved for decades and was in contact until his death .

In 1983, Zielniok an aid organization for Africa, initially under the name Ghana Action for a project in Ghana , which as a nonprofit in 1986 club in Bergheim was entered. In 2002 he was co-founder of a foundation "See Further" for the training of local skilled workers, together with Jürgen Rüttgers , Willy Trapp and Christoph Binger. In 2003 the association was named africa action, Zielniok became its honorary chairman. On the occasion of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary, he spoke in an interview about the wealth of Africa and countered prejudices.

Walter J. Zielniok was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 1997 .

He died on June 22, 2012 in Bergheim .
