background

On June 13, 2003, the Berlin graffiti artist Attila Murat Aydın was fatally injured on the day of his birthday. He left a son. Aydin had a decisive influence on hip-hop culture in Berlin and was seen as a figure of integration. Many - sometimes misguided - German artists commemorated the deceased. The rappers Bushido , Baba Saad , Kool Savas , Azad and Eko Fresh agreed to perform at a "Memorial Jam" in Berlin's Columbiahalle in 2005 in honor of Aydin. However, following the arrest of co-organizer Bushidos in Linz in autumn 2005, the event was canceled. In December 2004, Fler and his Aggro-Berlin colleagues Sido and B-Tight recorded the song Maxim is King for the label sampler Aggro Ansage Nr. 4 . This was added to the Maxim Memorial Sampler distributed by Groove Attack in 2005 , on which, in addition to the three artists, numerous other German rappers such as Kool Savas, Eko Fresh, Summer Cem , Jack Orsen or Taktloss Aydın commemorated. With Why are you so? Fler was the first artist to release a single in his honor.
