Wassylij Medwit OSBM (Ukrainian Василій Медвіт , scientific translation Vasyliy Medvit ; born July 23, 1949 in Przemyśl , Poland ) is an emeritus Ukrainian Greek Catholic auxiliary bishop , titular bishop and exarch .

Life

Wassylij Medwit was born in Przemysl, Poland. On December 26, 1978, Medwit decided to join the religious community of the Basilians .

He completed his theological studies in Rome . During his stay in Rome from 1984 to 1986 he worked at the “Pontifical College of St. Josaphat Kunzewitsch ” in the position of vice- rector . Medwit received on 31 May in 1984 by Pope John Paul II. The Holy Orders .

After his return to Poland, Vasylij Medwit took on pastoral duties from 1986 to 1989 as a pastor in the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic diaspora - parishes of Bani Mazurski and Krukljanky . On January 4, 1989, Medwit was appointed the first abbot of the Basilian Province of the Protection of the Blessed Mother in Poland. Since March 17, 2009 Vasylij Medwit was appointed auxiliary bishop of the Archbishopric Exarchate Donetsk-Kharkiv . On October 25, 2013 Vasylij Medwit resigned as auxiliary bishop in the Archbishopric Exarchate Donetsk-Kharkiv.
