Wayne Township is located in the southeast of Ashtabula County in the extreme northeast of Ohio, is about 40 km to the north from Lake Erie and borders clockwise on the townships: Cherry Valley Township , Andover Township , Williamsfield Township , Kinsman Township in Trumbull County , Gustavus Township ( Trumbull County), Greene Township (Trumbull County), Colebrook Township, and New Lyme Township .

The township is administered by a Board of Trustees consisting of three elected members. Two people are elected in the year after the presidential election and one in the year before.
