Wedel ( Low German Wehl ) is a district of the municipality of Fredenbeck in the Lower Saxony district of Stade .

history

Wedel was on March 17, 986 as Uuidula in a document of King Otto III. first mentioned. This document regulates the relationship between the Heeßlingen Monastery and the Archdiocese of Bremen .

Before 1852 Wedel belonged to the Börde Mulsum in the office of Harsefeld . The Börde Mulsum moved to the Stade office in 1852 , which was added to the Himmelpforten office in 1859 . After 1885 Wedel belonged to the district of Stade , since 1932 Wedel has belonged to today's district of Stade .

From 1965 to 1972 Wedel belonged to the small joint municipality of Fredenbeck . As part of the community reform , Wedel was incorporated into Fredenbeck with the other member communities Groß Fredenbeck , Klein Fredenbeck and Schwinge on July 1, 1972 . The current joint municipality of Fredenbeck consists of the municipalities of Fredenbeck, Kutenholz and Deinste .

In the First World War fell eight soldiers in World War II, twenty-two.

Wedel is evangelical-Lutheran and until 1959 belonged to the parish of the Church of St. Primus in Bargstedt . Today Wedel belongs to the parish of the Martin Luther Church in Fredenbeck. Around 1111/1116 Wedel still belonged to the parish of the Church of St. Petri Mulsum .
