Geographical location

Lake at Schwinge

Fredenbeck is located between Hamburg and Bremen on the Stader Geest . The region is rural. Via the main connections of the B 73 from Hamburg and B 74 from Bremerhaven and via the L 123 and L 124, the route leads into the Schwinge valley with extensive forests and moors. The Schwinge and numerous streams with their meadow valleys run deep in the area.

history

In 2017 a probe found a nine-gram gold multiple in a field with the portrait of Emperor Constantine I , which was minted in 342/343 in Sisak in today's Croatia. The coin has been on display in the Schwedenspeicher Museum in Stade since 2019 .

Incorporations

On July 1, 1972, the new community Fredenbeck was formed from the communities of Groß Fredenbeck, Klein Fredenbeck, Schwinge and Wedel.

Municipal council

The council of the municipality of Fredenbeck consists of 17 councilors. This is the specified number for the member municipality of an integrated municipality with a population between 6000 and 7000 inhabitants. The council members are elected for a five-year term by local elections. The current term of office began on November 1, 2016 and ends on October 31, 2021.

The Evangelical Lutheran Martin Luther Church , built in 1960/61, is located in Fredenbeck and belongs to the Buxtehude parish .

The Catholic St. Luke Church was built in 1967, and in 2003 it was profaned . Most recently she belonged to the parish of the Holy Spirit in Stade. The church was demolished in 2004, and a plaque commemorates it today. Apartments were built on the property. Today the nearest Catholic churches are around twelve kilometers away in Harsefeld and Stade .
