Weikartslauter

Weikartslauter is a district of the Lower Franconian municipality of Kirchlauter in the Haßberge district . Because of its location between Hecklesmühle and Hasenmühle , the hamlet also bears the name Mittelmühle.

geography

Weikartslauter is located in the southern part of the Haßberge an der Lauter Nature Park . The state road 2281 from Kirchlauter to Lauter leads through the town with its three courtyards. Bamberg is located about 20 kilometers southeast of Hasenmühle.

history

The place name probably goes back to the personal name Wighard or Swidger, who founded a settlement and a mill on the Lauter.

In the Urbar of the Bamberg Benedictine monastery Michelsberg of 1251 six estates and a mill were listed along with "Lewther" (Kirchlauter) in "Wicgersluter". From 1502 the von Guttenberg acquired the mill and settlement. In 1513 "Schweickerslauter" belonged to the Zent and in 1538 to the Eltmann office . 1689 came the place in the office and the center Kirchlauter. In 1761 the village lord von Guttenberg forbade farmers, including those from Weikerslauter, to drive to Eltmann. After 1803, the same authorities administered the settlement as Kirchlauter.

In 1862 the rural community of Kirchlauter, consisting of five places, the main town Kirchlauter, the two hamlets Weikartslauter and Goggelgereuth as well as the wasteland of Hecklesmühle and Winterhof, was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Ebern . Weikartslauter had 19 inhabitants in 1871, who were mostly Catholic and belonged to the Kirchlauter parish 1.5 kilometers away, where the Catholic denominational school was also located. In 1900 the 647.48 hectare parish had 467 inhabitants, of whom 454 were Catholics and 13 were Protestants, and 94 were residential buildings. Weikartslauter had 13 residents and 3 residential buildings. The number of residential buildings remained unchanged at three in the following censuses. In 1925 there were 16 people living in the hamlet of Weikartslauter. The evangelical residents belonged to the parish in Jesserndorf , which is 5.0 kilometers away . In 1950 Weikartslauter had 18 inhabitants and in 1970 15 inhabitants. In 1987 there were still 7 residents.
