The Roman snail ordinance in Baden-Württemberg regulated the collection of Roman snails between 1973 and 2005 .

content

According to the ordinance , it was allowed in the individual urban and rural districts to collect snails every three years between April 1 and June 15. The collectors had to be at least ten years old and the screws had to have a housing diameter ( precautionary measure ) of at least 32 millimeters. The collectors were able to determine this with special measuring rings that they were obliged to carry.

Since the Roman snail is now threatened with extinction, a general collection ban was imposed in accordance with the Federal Species Protection Ordinance of 1986. Infringements are punishable by fines .

Similar national regulations

In Bavaria , the ordinance on the protection of Roman snails of January 18, 1974 ( BayRS 791-1-4-UG) was replaced on July 16, 2008 by the provisions of the Exception Ordinance on Species Protection (AAV) of June 3, 2008. In Rhineland-Palatinate , the State Ordinance on the Collection of Roman Snails (WeinbSchnV) of February 16, 1982 (GVBl. P. 89) is still a regulation specifically related to Roman snails.
